Should the requirements for Swedish citizenship be tightened?

What is the issue?
The requirements for Swedish citizenship are to be tightened.
The Riksdag voted in favour of the government's proposal to tighten the requirements for obtaining Swedish citizenship. The proposal includes, among other things, a longer period of residence, higher requirements for lifestyle, support requirements and requirements for knowledge of Swedish and Swedish society.
This is how the votes should be read:
Yes means supporting the change described above. No means voting against it.
The Riksdag voted on the proposal on 29 April 2026.

58 were absent or did not vote in the Riksdag vote.
