Swiss vote 610 (12 February 2017) was about creating a permanent national fund for roads and urban transport.

The idea was not simply to build more highways. Instead, it created a long-term fund to pay for:
Maintenance of national highways.
Repair and modernization of existing roads.
Construction of new highway sections where needed.
Financial support for urban transport projects, including measures to reduce congestion in cities (which could include roads, public transport, cycling or pedestrian infrastructure).

Supporters said:
Switzerland needed stable, long-term funding for transport infrastructure.
Traffic was increasing, and roads and cities needed reliable investment.

Opponents said:
It would dedicate too much public money to roads.
Some preferred spending more on public transport instead.
