This poll is based on a Swiss federal popular initiative voted on in 2008, titled “Popular Sovereignty Instead of Government Propaganda.”

Opponents argued that elected governments should be allowed to explain and defend their policies and that voters benefit from hearing the government’s assessment of complex issues.

The initiative was rejected by Swiss voters in a nationwide referendum.
